Review requests
Automatically email clients a link to review you a few hours after their appointment. A TimeToBook Plus feature.
Happy clients rarely leave a review on their own. They mean to, then the day gets away from them. Review requests do the asking for you: a few hours after an appointment, the client gets a short, friendly email with a Leave a review button that goes straight to your review page.
Review requests are part of TimeToBook Plus. Plus is included with Team plans and during your free trial. Without Plus, the Review Requests card shows a Get Plus link instead of the settings.
Turning it on
- Go to Settings → Notifications.
- Find the Review Requests card and switch on Send review requests.
- Paste your link into Review link. It needs to be a full web address starting with
https://(orhttp://). - Under Send, choose when the email goes out: 1 hour after, 2 hours after (the default), 4 hours after or The next day.
Changes save straight away. The review link saves when you click out of the field. If you have more than one location, set this up for each location.
Nothing is sent until there's a review link. If the switch is on but the link is empty, the card shows Add your review link to start sending.
Which link to use
Your Google review link works best, because Google reviews help new clients find you in search and on maps. To find it, open your Google Business Profile and look for Ask for reviews. It gives you a short link that opens the review box directly.
Any review page works, though. If most of your clients find you somewhere else, use that page's link instead.
When it's sent
The timing counts from the end of the appointment, in your salon's local time. With 2 hours after, a client whose appointment finishes at 11:00 gets their email shortly after 13:00. The next day means 24 hours after the appointment ends.
If a client had several services in one visit, they get one email, timed from the end of their last service.
When you first switch it on, clients whose appointments finished within the last day or so (before your chosen delay) may also get a request. Older visits are never emailed, so turning it on won't send a flood of emails to people who came in weeks ago.
Who gets a review request
A client gets a review request when all of these are true:
- Their appointment was confirmed or completed. Cancelled bookings and no-shows are skipped, and so are calendar blocks.
- They have an email address on their client record. Review requests are email only, so they never use your SMS credits.
- They haven't unsubscribed from optional emails.
- They haven't been sent a review request in the last 3 months.
That last rule means regulars aren't asked after every visit. Each client is asked at most once every 3 months, across all of your locations.
What clients see
The email comes from your business name, with the subject "How was your visit to (your business name)?". It thanks them for coming in, asks for a quick review, and has a Leave a review button that opens your review link. If you've added an email address in Location Details, replies go there.
Every review request includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops review requests and other optional emails, such as rebooking reminders. Clients still get their booking confirmations and appointment reminders.
Review requests don't appear in the Messages log, which only lists booking emails and texts.
Turning it off
Switch off Send review requests in the Review Requests card. Your review link and timing are kept, so you can switch it back on at any time.
If Plus ends, review requests stop being sent. Your settings are kept, and sending carries on if you start Plus again.
Getting Plus
If you're on the free plan:
- Go to Settings → Billing.
- On the TimeToBook Plus card, click Get Plus.
Team plans and free trials already include Plus, so there's nothing to buy. See TimeToBook Plus for everything that's included.
