In-app notifications
The bell icon in the top-right of every page — what triggers a notification, marking things read, and where to find the full history.
The bell icon in the top-right of every page is where TimeToBook tells you about things that happen in the background — a new online booking, a client cancellation, or your SMS credits running out. If there are unread notifications, you'll see a small dot or number on the bell.
Opening the dropdown
Click the bell to pop open the latest ten notifications. Each one shows:
- A short title (e.g. New booking from Sarah K.)
- A one-line message with the relevant detail
- How long ago it happened (e.g. 3 minutes ago)
- Unread items have a coloured dot; read items are dimmed
Clicking a notification marks it as read. If it relates to a specific booking, client, or page, it'll usually link straight there.
Mark all as read sits at the top of the dropdown — use it when you've already dealt with everything and just want to clear the badge.
The full Notifications page
The dropdown only shows the latest ten. To see everything — including older items — visit Notifications from the bell dropdown (or your account menu).
The full page lets you:
- Filter to Unread only
- Page through your full history (20 per page)
- Mark individual items, or everything, as read
What triggers a notification
Notifications fire automatically for things you probably want to know about straight away. The main ones:
- New online bookings — a client booked through your public page.
- Client-side cancellations — a client cancelled via the Manage your booking link in their confirmation email.
- SMS credits exhausted — your prepaid SMS credits have run out, so reminders and confirmations will pause until you top up.
You don't need to configure anything to receive these — they're on by default for every owner and manager.
Notifications vs Messages vs Email
These three are easy to mix up:
- Notifications (this page) are internal alerts for you — they only appear inside TimeToBook.
- Messages is the log of every email and SMS we've sent to your clients.
- Email to your inbox (e.g. when a client books) is a separate setting controlled under Settings → Notifications.
If you'd rather not get an email every time a client books — and just rely on the in-app bell — turn the email notifications off in Settings. The bell will still light up.
